A Bit About The Coding G.O.A.T.s
The Coding G.O.A.T.s are a Lego League Challenge team made up of 6 students from the Des Moines area. For the last 5 years they have competed against other Iowa teams displaying their programming abilities of a Lego robot on a game board. You can watch one of their competitions by clicking the button below!
Additionally, the G.O.A.T.s researched a problem related to a yearly theme and created an Innovation Project that could make a positive impact in their community. This year's theme, Submerged, sparked their curiosity about problems people encounter when exploring the ocean. As a group, they researched algae blooms and the negative impacts they have on ocean exploration and ocean ecosystems. They followed the cause of this problem back to nitrogen usage on Midwest farm fields and developed a working nitrogen filter to remove nitrogen from farm field tile drain runoff.
The hard work and dedication the G.O.A.T.s put into their robot game and Innovation Project paid off in several qualifying events. After competing in the State Championship against 60 other teams they received the 1st Place Champions award. They now have the honor of representing Iowa at the 2025 FIRST Lego League World Championship event in Houston, Texas where they will compete against 200 teams from around the world.
They are asking for your partnership to make this event possible. In order to attend Worlds, April 15-18, The Coding G.O.A.T.s need to raise $10,000. This will cover the $2,000 registration fee as well as their team’s lodging, travel, and food costs.
